New Living History Program at The Historic Schoolhouse

The Edmond Historic Preservation Trust, in partnership with the Department of History and Geography and the Women’s Research Center at the University of Central Oklahoma, present a new living history program about the lives of female teachers at the 1889 Territorial Schoolhouse. You will learn about boarding schools within the territories and the years of assimilation policies for Native American students. This program focuses on the adult learner and will examine the day to day lives of educators in Oklahoma. The tour runs Thursdays at 6 pm. Join experts with the Edmond Historic Preservation Trust to learn something new with a downtown tour of historic Edmond. Tours will be conducted the third Saturday of each month. Learn about the structures and residents throughout downtown on this exciting and educational walking tour. Photos will be shown on the tours, revealing changes through the decades. The guided tours last about 45 minutes.

Learn about the history of Edmond and take a tour of the Downtown Area where many founding fathers of the city lived and worked. Tour guides dressed in late 1800s and early 1900s period costumes will be on the tour to play the parts of this deceased historical figures and bring them back to life.
